Cody & Ariel's Saluda Shoals Wedding

Ariel told me all about what she envisioned for her wedding at Saluda Shoals, but I had no idea how beautiful it was going to be!  I was totally blown away when I pulled up to the venue.  This place that I associate with going to see Christmas lights and making s'mores with our children, had been TOTALLY transformed.

The first thing I do as soon as I get to weddings is start snapping pictures of wedding details, and I fell even more in love with their decorations as I kept snapping away.  Their love for the outdoors was translated perfectly through their details.  The antlers, the cotton, the touch of burgundy, YES!!!  And I have to show you the awesome bar!

Ariel and Cody chose to do a first look with just the two of them.  They wanted to have ONE special moment to themselves before their whirlwind of a day really began. I saw this pretty cool bridge over this little creek and thought it would be the perfect little spot for such a moment.  I tell people that I'm not super traditional and I think that's why I love first looks so much.  The bride and groom get to see each other for the first time and get to take their time living in the moment.

A common misconception is that if you do a first look before the ceremony, then there isn't as much emotion when the bride walks down the aisle.   The excitement is clearly still there.

The reception was as much fun as the wedding was beautiful.  Cody and Ariel were surrounded by people who were ready to party with the newlyweds.  You may not be allowed to bring guns into the park, but they found a way to still incorporate "shot guns!"  HA!  That was corny and stupid, but they will get it :)

This is one of my favorites from the whole night.  One thing we talked about at our consultation was that Ariel REALLY wanted sunset pictures, so I KNEW I had to do that for them.  It was super overcast the day of the wedding and up until about 10 minutes before we took this, it looked like the sky was not going to cooperate.  I kept watching the clouds and the light coming through (so much so that guest probably thought I was crazy staring up at the sky so much lol) I knew we would get about .5 seconds of a sunset..... and I WAS going to get them their sunset pictures!
