Nick & Carrie's August Wedding at Stone River | Columbia, SC Wedding Photographer

Nick and Carrie's August wedding at Stone River in West Columbia, South Carolina, was filled with gorgeous florals, thoughtful details, and so much personality. From their sweet first look to an unforgettable reception, their wedding day was a beautiful celebration of two people surrounded by everyone they love.

Nick and Carrie started their wedding morning in separate Airbnbs, each surrounded by their closest friends. And honestly, what better way to begin your wedding day than spending those last few hours before saying "I do" with your favorite people? While Carrie had her hair and makeup finished, shared laughs, and took time to write a few heartfelt words, Nick enjoyed a laid-back morning with his guys. There was no shortage of personality, laughter, or excitement as everyone prepared for the celebration ahead. We loved being able to document both sides of their morning, from the little details to the anticipation of everything that was about to happen.

If there's one thing we absolutely loved about Nick and Carrie's wedding design, it was the COLOR! Soft blues, romantic pinks, creamy whites, and touches of peach came together to create the prettiest summer wedding palette. Their ceremony florals were overflowing with gorgeous blooms, while their reception tables featured delicate arrangements, glowing candles, blue napkins, and elegant place settings. Every detail felt thoughtfully chosen, creating a romantic atmosphere that was both timeless and full of personality. From Carrie's beautiful bridal accessories to the stunning floral installations throughout Stone River, there were so many little pieces of their wedding day worth remembering. And that's exactly why we love photographing the details. Long after the flowers are gone and the tables are cleared, these photographs preserve all the thought and love that went into creating such a beautiful celebration.

efore walking down the aisle, Nick and Carrie shared a private first look and exchanged gifts. Watching their reactions was enough to put the biggest smiles on our faces, too! These two are genuinely some of the sweetest people, and the way they interacted during those quiet moments together said so much about their relationship. Between the smiles, laughter, and thoughtful surprises, it was such a sweet beginning to the rest of their wedding day.

I would never push my clients either way when it comes to doing a first look, but it can be so beneficial. Not only can it calm some nerves, but it also gives us time to knock out a lot of portraits ahead of time. For Carrie and Nick’s wedding, we were able to get all of wedding party and their family photos completed before the ceremony.

With their closest family and friends gathered around them, Nick and Carrie exchanged vows surrounded by the gorgeous floral arrangements that framed their ceremony space at Stone River. The soft summer colors against the natural greenery created such a beautiful setting for their vows. But as stunning as everything looked, the most meaningful part was watching these two begin their marriage in front of the people who love them most. There is something incredibly special about looking around on your wedding day and seeing the faces of everyone who has supported your story. Their ceremony was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and the beginning of their next chapter together.

After the ceremony, we headed toward the Gervais Street Bridge for portraits along the Congaree River. The historic architecture provided a stunning backdrop, and we couldn't resist getting a few romantic photographs underneath Carrie's veil! Between the classic bridge portraits and the beautiful grounds at Stone River, their gallery has such a lovely variety of timeless wedding portraits. And Carrie's dress? Absolutely gorgeous from every angle!

And then came the celebration! Nick and Carrie's reception was everything a wedding reception should be: full of laughter, excitement, personality, and people genuinely enjoying themselves. From their hilarious cake cutting to the dancing, silly sunglasses, and countless moments of laughter, these two weren't just hosting a party. They were living every second of it.

But what stands out most when looking through their reception photographs is Carrie's smile. It's everywhere. Laughing with Nick, celebrating with their friends, sharing a bite of cake, and simply enjoying the moment. You can see the happiness on her face throughout the entire evening, and it's impossible not to smile right along with her.

Years from now, the music may be forgotten and the decorations will be packed away, but photographs have a way of bringing those feelings right back. The laughter, the hugs, the unexpected moments, and the joy of being surrounded by people who showed up to celebrate your love. Those are the memories that make a wedding day unforgettable. And Nick and Carrie's photographs tell the story of a couple who truly had the time of their lives.

They ended their evening with an incredible send-off filled with cold sparks, bubbles, cheering friends, and one seriously impressive dip kiss!

Congratulations, Nick & Carrie!
