Charleston Inspired Engagement Session in Columbia, SC
Sometimes the best locations aren’t the ones you carefully plan out—they’re the ones you stumble into.
Kaylee and Noah’s engagement session started with a completely different vision in mind, but when our original location fell through, we found ourselves pivoting to something new in downtown Columbia. And honestly? It ended up becoming one of my favorite spots I’ve ever shot in.
Tucked away behind a beautiful iron fence lined with brick and surrounded by towering palm trees, this little corner felt like a hidden escape. You’d never guess you were right in the middle of the city. It had this quiet, romantic charm—almost like we had been transported somewhere coastal, with the soft greens and warm textures wrapping everything together so effortlessly.
And then you add Kaylee and Noah into a space like that… and it just works.
From the very beginning, their connection was so natural. The kind that doesn’t need much prompting—just a simple “hold each other” turns into laughter, sweet glances, and those moments where they forget the camera is even there. Watching Noah pick Kaylee up like it was second nature, or the way she leaned into him with the biggest smile—it all felt easy in the best way.
What I loved most about this session was how unplanned it was. We didn’t walk in with a strict shot list or a perfectly mapped-out path. We just explored, followed the light, and leaned into whatever felt right in the moment. Those are always the sessions that end up feeling the most genuine—and this one was exactly that.
This spot may have been a last-minute find, but it quickly became a new favorite of mine. It’s proof that sometimes when things don’t go according to plan, they end up even better than you imagined.
And if Kaylee and Noah taught me anything during this session, it’s that the magic isn’t in the location—it’s in the connection. The location just happened to be the perfect bonus.
