A Bloom-Filled Spring Wedding at Heron Hill
Rebecca and Douglas’s spring wedding at Heron Hill was nothing short of timeless. Set against the backdrop of blooming azaleas and golden spring light, their day was a perfect balance of elegance, intimacy, and joy. As soon as I arrived, we jumped right into the first look with Rebecca and Douglas so we could make the absolute most of their portrait time. They knew from the beginning that capturing their connection was a top priority, and having a first look allowed us to get started early, soak in the spring beauty around Heron Hill, and photograph everything they had envisioned without feeling rushed. It set such a peaceful, joyful tone for the rest of the day and gave them time to be fully present with each other before the festivities began.
Rebecca and Douglas’s large wedding party brought so much energy and excitement to the day—it was contagious in the best way. From the moment I arrived, you could feel how much this group adored them. They were cheering, laughing, and fully ready to celebrate their friends in style. Whether it was hyping them up during portraits, tearing up during the ceremony, or lighting up the dance floor later that night, every single person was genuinely thrilled to see these two tie the knot. Their support added so much joy to an already love-filled day.
Having each been part of many weddings before, this couple knew exactly what they wanted—and what they didn’t. From the start, Rebecca and Douglas were intentional about creating a wedding day that felt like them. That meant making space for what mattered most: the two of them. They carved out plenty of time for couple portraits throughout the day, ensuring they could soak up the moment and the beauty of the Heron Hill property together. And with azaleas in full bloom all around them, it made for an absolutely stunning setting.
A clean black and white color palette paired beautifully with delicate touches of baby’s breath, keeping the focus on the love that filled the space. It was understated elegance in every sense.
Let’s get hitched!!! And of course, their pup ring bearers made a debut!
As a bride who only has two photos with her husband from our own wedding day, I carry that regret with me—and it’s a big reason why I’m so passionate about making sure my couples get plenty of portraits together. Your wedding day flies by, and while the details and décor are beautiful, it's the images of the two of you—just being in love—that you'll treasure most in the years to come. I never want my couples to look back and wish they had more of each other in their gallery. That’s why I prioritize building in time for intentional, relaxed portraits that feel like you, so when the day is over, you’re left with more than just memories—you have the photos to relive it all.
I am absolutely loving the trend of couples stepping away from the traditional wedding cake and choosing dessert options that feel more personal and fun. Rebecca and Douglas went with Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and let me tell you—I was sohere for it! There’s something so joyful about a wall of warm, glazed doughnuts that just makes everyone smile. It was the perfect sweet ending to a day full of intentional choices, and such a fun reflection of their laid-back, love-filled celebration.
And when the sun set, the celebration took off. DJ Jay Bookman kept the party energy sky-high all night long, blending tracks seamlessly and keeping the dance floor packed from the first song to the last. Rebecca and Douglas’s people showed up ready to celebrate—and celebrate, they did. From quiet moments among the flowers to the electric energy of the dance floor, every piece of this day felt personal, effortless, and full of meaning. Rebecca and Douglas, thank you for letting me witness the way you center each other. Your love is both grounded and joyful, and it was an honor to capture that.
