Summertime Bliss at The Hartley House: A Wedding to Remember
There are some moments that just hit differently—and getting to watch your nephew marry the love of his life is one of them. Being both behind the lens and a guest at Robert and Julia’s wedding was something truly special. As a photographer, I’ve been lucky to witness hundreds of beautiful love stories. But this one was personal. Watching someone you’ve known since childhood stand at the altar, eyes full of emotion, heart full of promise… it’s hard to put into words how full my heart was.
A moment for their details.
There’s a special kind of energy in the getting ready moments—the room buzzing with excitement, laughter, and maybe a few happy tears. It’s a mix of nerves and joy, of deep breaths and final touches. The anticipation builds with every minute, knowing that everything is leading up to one of the most important walks of your life. There’s something beautiful about the quiet before the ceremony—the meaningful conversations, the hugs, the glances in the mirror—where love and commitment start to fully sink in.
Watching Julia prepare to walk down the aisle and hearing her pour her heart out about Robert was deeply confirming and emotional. The way she spoke about his kindness, patience, and the way he makes her feel safe and loved brought tears to my eyes. In that moment, I knew without a doubt that my nephew had found someone who truly sees and treasures him.
The day was warm in all the best ways—sunshine and heat, yes—but also the kind of warmth that comes from being surrounded by people who love you, from laughter echoing across the dance floor, and from hugs that last just a few seconds longer than usual. Robert and Julia were glowing all day. Their love is easy to see, effortless in the way they smile at one another and full of joy that poured out into every moment—from heartfelt vows to carefree dancing. And yes, there was a lot of dancing.
As I clicked the shutter, I caught glimpses of tenderness and fun, of proud parents and beaming friends. But I also got to put the camera down, share a toast, tear up during their first dance, and celebrate with my family. That combination—of storytelling and personal connection—is something I’ll always treasure.
When you see real love, you just know—it’s in the way they look at each other, the unspoken understanding, the quiet steadiness. It doesn’t have to be flashy or loud; it’s genuine, and it shows up in the smallest, most meaningful moments.
Aren’t they precious?! I can’t get enough of these two!!
Also, a very heartfelt thank you to two of my dear friends, Jess and Amber, for helping me capture such an important day. I truly appreciate you both more than you will ever know!
To Robert and Julia: thank you for letting me be part of your day in such a meaningful way. I am so happy for you both and cannot wait to see where life takes you next. Your love is beautiful—and capturing it was the greatest honor.
Cheers to forever. 🥂
